206. WALK-A-HOLICS - TAMPINES QUARRY

Apparently, there's quite a community of walkers in Singapore. Some have organised themselves into walking cliques who travel together for hiking holidays. In Singapore, you'll find them joining these walkabouts acting as 'cheerleaders'

It had been a wet week so the morning was cool and breezy with a hint of rain to come. It made the weather really pleasant

Bedok Reservoir is nice for a walk or jog or cycle or just sit and contemplate on water...

This sand stockpile is hoarded by the Housing & Development Board for public housing.
Over the years of intense building, Singapore encountered much difficulty buying sand for her development needs...

The otters came out to play. They are free and happy and safe...

Leaving the reservoir track we cut through some wooded areas into muddy tracks leading to Tampines Quarry

Took a walk along this newly opened Park Connector (PCN)
NParks has worked on this for years as the Connector is a deck built over Alexandra Canal...

This Connector cuts through this very old public housing estate which has undergone a renewal program. It's now looking very gracious, quiet, peaceful, surrounded by some very matured trees.

Behind the bare branches of this frangipani grove is a school that has been around for ages - perhaps as old as this estate. Like the estate, it has undergone rebuilding and is looking smart

Old apartments with that retro art deco look...and a village mosque from the days when this was a village, looking homely and neighbourly, hope it stays this way and not become a huge showy mousetrap

From this vantage point, I took in the neighbourhood. The several large houses are former British colonial buildings now rental properties looked after by a Government body
