170. WILD WILD WEST SIKKIM - MY 19th TRIP

This is a return trip to cover more of Sikkim - parts of which are like some lost frontier.

Driving in from West Bengal, I enter Sikkim from the West through the border town of Melli.
Henceforth, the drive for several hours, was through rugged terrain and it was slow moving.
I got to see something I enjoy watching, that wonderful trait of Give and Take (Post 8) by all motorists concerned. They make way on narrow stretches by pulling up to the side, very close to the cliff edge, by reversing to let the other pass, no cursing or swearing, just a toot of the horn to say Thanks!

Drivers wait patiently for 30mins as work goes on ahead before the 'barrier' is lifted for us to pass. People are aware that the inconvenience is necessary for in 3 years, they will have a good highway. They spend their time chatting in low tones, nobody's impatient...

They love to play with words - I've come across so many, they're hilarious!

This one in Kashmir is the ultimate!
